Intermediates contracts settled

March went out with a flurry of settlements in intermediates markets. The para-xylene (pX) contract in Europe for March was settled at a decrease of €70/m.t. leaving just the usual late-settling US pX contract on the table. The pX contract reduction soured sentiment in spot markets, traders say. Spot pX fell $100/m.t. on the US Gulf and twice that in Europe. Spot ortho-xylene (oX) declined 4 cts/lb in North America and $100/m.t. in Europe. March ethylene glycol was agreed lower by 4 cts/lb in North America and down by €35/m.t. in Europe.
