Declines spotted in intermediates

Intermediates contracts were reported to be catching up on both sides of the Atlantic over the early part of May, but not to the pleasure of sellers. Ethylene glycol was reported to be agreed for April at a decrease of 3 cts/lb, but producers immediately nominated an increase of 2 cts/lb for May to try to recover most of that concession. Ethylene glycol in Europe was done with less fuss, settling lower by €50/m.t. ($65), players say. Acrylonitrile accelerated its losses, with spot market declines of around $200/m.t.
