![]() Intermediates Prices Push Higher2:22 PM MDT | August 21, 2012 | Lindsey Bewley As is often the case with intermediates, the isomer xylenes led the way again this month with contract settlements. U.S. ortho-xylene was agreed higher by 6 cts/lb, which is being called a coup for producers. They had originally nominated increases of 3-5 cts/lb. European para-xylene was the other contract done, also rising sharply by €135/m.t. Spot pX boomed $160/m.t. in North America but just $60/m.t. in Europe where it was already trading a little higher.
