US Gulf Coast December contracts were not yet settled, but spot business was said to be strong. Benzene gained 10 cts/gal while toluene was up 5 cts/gal and mixed xylenes higher by 15 cts/gal. Styrene, on the strength of a very tight European market, rose 3 cts/lb. In Europe the picture was more mixed, with benzene higher by $50/m.t. but toluene slipped $40/m.t. Styrene soared $100/m.t. as a result of plant outages. Methyl tert-butyl ether saw sellers raise offers by $30/m.t. while buyers would only increase bids by...
