The net gain from the previous week was an average of 50 cts/gal in a wider trading band, players say. Mixed xylenes were repored down by 20 cts/gal, and styrene slumped 6 cts/lb. The pattern was similar in Europe, with benzene higher by $15/m.t., mixed xylenes off $50/m.t., and styrene stumbling by $110/m.t. Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) was the loss leader for the week—resuming trading after a few quiet days with a plunge of $160/m.t. as...
