Aromatics settle mostly lower

It was a day or two ahead of contract settlements for aromatics, but spot markets were generally lower on both sides of the Atlantic. Benzene on the US Gulf tacked on 5 cts/gal, but toluene was lower by the same amount and mixed xylenes were reported down 15 cts/gal. Spot toluene slipped 2 cts/lb, traders say. In Europe, spot benzene plummeted $130/m.t., while toluene slipped $40/m.t. and mixed xylenes were lower by $60/m.t. Styrene was reported lesser by just $15/m.t.
