Aromatics prices vary

Aromatics markets were mixed on both sides of the Atlantic this week. Spot benzene on the US Gulf was reported higher in a wider trading range, with sellers raising offers by 10 cts/gal but buyers only increasing bids 5 cts/gal. Mixed xylenes were said to be solidly higher by 10 cts/gal, while styrene recovered a bit after steep recent declines, adding 2 cts/lb. In Europe, benzene moved ahead $15/m.t. while toluene slipped $50-60/m.t. in a widening range. Styrene was reported sharply higher by $110/m.t.
