Aromatics prices varied

Aromatics were reported strong on both sides of the Atlantic, in advance of August contract talks. Spot benzene and mixed xylenes on the US Gulf both gained 10 cts/gal, while spot toluene added a nickel. Spot styrene added 2 cts/lb, sources say. In Europe, spot benzene rose $15/m.t., while toluene gained $20/m.t. and mixed xylenes tacked on $10/m.t., traders report. Spot styrene moved to record highs, with a surge of $40/m.t.
