Aromatics prices settled lower

Aromatics contracts prices for March were settled lower on both sides of the Atlantic, traders report. The benchmark benzene contract on the US Gulf Coast slumped 14 cts/gal for March while the spot price skidded 20 cts/gal. In a pair of late closings, February mixed xylenes were settled at a decrease of 13 cts/gal, but February benzene contracts were revised higher by 10 cts/lb, in part due to the sharp increases in feedstocks during that month, players say.
