Aromatics prices mostly drop

The only two gainers for the week in aromatics were spot benzene and styrene in Europe, which climbed $30/m.t. and $50/m.t., respectively. In contrast, toluene was said to be lower by $40/m.t., while mixed xylenes dipped $20/m.t. On the US Gulf Coast, decliners ran the table, with benzene reported down 20 cts/gal, toluene dropped a dime, and mixed xylenes were nicked for a nickel. Plentiful supply pressed methanol spot prices lower by 2 cts/gal in North America and €10/m.t. ($14) in Europe, traders say, while methyl tert-butyl ether continued its slow slide...
