Aromatics prices mixed

Aromatics were a varied picture on opposite sides of the Atlantic with only nominal and mixed movement on the US Gulf Coast, but spot prices weakened sharply in Europe. Spot benzene and toluene on the US Gulf ticked higher by 5 cts/gal, but mixed xylenes slipped the same amount. Styrene, in ample supply, was said to be softer by 3 cts/lb. In Europe, spot benzene was reported down $45/m.t. while styrene slumped $70/m.t. Toluene held to a decline of just $10/m.t.
