Aromatics prices drop

Aromatics were weaker than olefins, traders say. Spot toluene and mixed xylenes on the US Gulf Coast were lower by 10 cts/gal, but the attention was mostly on benzene and styrene. Little change was yet evident in business done, but with several styrene units starting maintenance turns, styrene is expected to firm and benzene to weaken in coming weeks.
