Aromatics prices drop

Aromatics prices were lower, with one notable exception. Spot benzene on the US Gulf skidded 25 cts/gal, while mixed xylenes tumbled 65 cts/gal and styrene shed another 2 cts/lb. In Europe, spot benzene was said to be lower by $35/m.t. as mixed xylenes were down $50/m.t. and styrene declined $30/m.t. The sole gainer for the group was mixed xyelens, which was higher by $25/m.t.as a result of smaller than anticipated declines in derivatives.
