Aromatics prices drop

All of the aromatics on the US Gulf Coast lost ground, market watchers report. Spot benzene dipped 15 cts/gal, while both toluene and mixed xylenes retreated 20 cts/gal. Styrene was lower by 2 cts/lb as polymer demand flagged, reports say. The story was less dire in Europe. Spot bezene tumbled €30/m.t. ($41), but toulene was higher by $10/m.t., reports say. Styrene skidded $60/m.t., players say. Methanol in North American spot business ticked lower 3 cts/gal as some production issues were resolved among makers. Fourth-quarter posting price...
