Aromatics Swing Upward

Higher contract settlement for August showed sellers in charge of aromatics markets on both sides of the Atlantic. Benchmark benzene on the U.S. Gulf was agreed at an increase of 44 cts/gal, or 12% higher. Spot material saw offers add 15 cts/gal ahead of bids higher by 10 cts/gal. Spot toluene was reported to be traded higher by 10 cts/gal while mixed xylenes were said to gain an average of 7.5 cts/gal in a narrowing trading band.
