Spot benzene on the U.S. Gulf Coast was level, while spot toluene tumbled almost 20%, to 20 cts/gal. Despite sharp declines in para-xylene, mixed xylenes were only off by 2-3 cts/gal; and styrene clung to just a penny decline, sources say. In Europe benzene and styrene were the bigger losers, declining $5/m.t. and $30/m.t. respectively, while toluene was flat and mixed xylenes actually managed a gain of $10/m.t., traders say.
