![]() Aromatics Prices Sharply Higher on Gulf Coast Power Outage10:27 AM MDT | April 28, 2011 | Lindsey Bewley Spot aromatics on the U.S. Gulf were tightened sharply by power outages to Texas City that took three refineries out of service. Benzene was higher by 10 cts/gal, while toluene rose double that and mixed xylenes split the difference with a spot gain of 15 cts/gal, market watchers report. Spot styrene was said to gain 3 cts/lb. In Europe spot benzene zoomed higher by $30/m.t. while toluene was said to be lower by $5/m.t. Styrene tacked on $10/m.t., players say.
