Aromatics Prices Rise in U.S. and Europe

In aromatics benchmark benzene on the U.S. Gulf Coast was reported to be settled for the February contract at an increase of 51 cts/gal, while mixed xylenes for February were agreed higher by 19 cts/gal, and styrene producers secured a 4 cts/lb rise for the January contract. On the spot market business was reported more subdued, with benzene adding 15 cts/gal. Styrene was the exception, with a strong gain of 8 cts/lb being secured, traders say.
