![]() Aromatics Prices Plunge in U.S. and Europe9:11 PM MDT | August 11, 2011 | Lindsey Bewley Spot benzene on the U.S. Gulf Coast sank 30 cts/gal while spot toluene plunged 55 cts/gal, traders report. At the same time sellers say the August contract for benzene jumped 44 cts/gal to near where spot numbers had been before the latest swoon. The August contract for mixed xylenes did even better, soaring 58 cts/gal. Spot mixed xylenes held its losses to 20 cts/gal. Spot benzene eased off by 2 cts/lb, while the July contract rolled at the June price, players say. In Europe, spot benzene saw buyers bid down by $5/m.t. while sellers chased them down with offers...
