![]() Aromatics Mixed in First Week of July1:58 PM MDT | July 7, 2010 | Lindsey Bewley Benchmark spot benzene on the U.S. Gulf dropped a dime, but other spot markets were level as July contracts were concluded. Benzene was agreed lower by 13 cts/gal, while the contact for mixed xylenes was settled at a decline of 14 cts/gal. The loss leader of the week was styrene, where late-month June contracts were agreed lower by 9 cts/lb, a decrease of more than 15%. Market watchers say the steep drop was not out of line, given current spot levels. In Europe spot benzene was reported lower by an average of $12.5/m.t. in a tightening trading range. Spot toluene...
