Aromatics Mixed in First Week of July

Benchmark spot benzene on the U.S. Gulf dropped a dime, but other spot markets were level as July contracts were concluded. Benzene was agreed lower by 13 cts/gal, while the contact for mixed xylenes was settled at a decline of 14 cts/gal. The loss leader of the week was styrene, where late-month June contracts were agreed lower by 9 cts/lb, a decrease of more than 15%.
