Aromatics Lower in Mid-Month Trading

Aromatics were lower across the board, but traders reported the retreat was very uneven. On either side of the Atlantic bellwether benzene took the brunt of the decline, down an average of 17 cts/gal on the U.S. Gulf Coast in a widening trading range and down an average of $32/m.t. in Europe albeit within a narrowing band. Smaller-volume aromatics were less changed. Producers reduced offers for European spot toluene by $5/m.t. Mixed xylenes were said to be traded lower by 10 cts/gal in the U.S. and $10/m.t. in Europe.
