Aromatics Lower in Both Europe and U.S.

Spot benzene on the U.S. Gulf saw a widening trading range as buyers took bids lower by 20 cts/gal but sellers would only decrease their offers by 15 cts/gal. Spot toluene was reported down by 25 cts/gal, while mixed xylenes took a heavy hit, lower by half a dollar, more than 10%. Styrene held to just a loss of 2 cts/lb, traders say. In Europe the story was the same. Benzene was said to be off by $70/m.t., while mixed xylenes slumped by $80/m.t. and styrene shed $60/m.t. Toluene held to a more modest decrease of $30/m.t.
