Aromatics Activity Picks Up in Europe, U.S.

Spot benzene on the U.S. Gulf spiked 30 cts/gal, but neither toluene nor mixed xylenes were much moved. Physical volumes were not much moved either, as a barge knocked a power line tower into the Houston Ship Channel, blocking movements in either direction for several days. Styrene traders forged ahead, however, settling the September contract price at an increase of 2 cts/lb. Spot prices rose the same amount.
