The January benzene contract in Europe was settled sharply higher with an increase of €149/m.t., a rise of more than 20%. Spot prices for all aromatics were higher by $20-25/m.t. North American producers responded quickly to developments across the Atlantic, nominating an increase of 72 cts/gal, or 22%, for the January contract price.
