The benzene contract for November soared 33 cts/gal while November mixed xylenes were agreed higher by 23 cts/gal. The late-month October contract was said to be concluded with an increase of 2 cts/lb. In spot transactions, benzene saw a net decrease of 7.5 cts/gal in a wider trading range, while toluene gained 10 cts/gal, traders say. Spot styrene moved higher by 2 cts/lb.
