Aromatics Active Following Holiday Weekend

There was good activity in aromatics markets on either side of the Atlantic, traders say. On the U.S. Gulf Coast spot benzene was essentially level, but both toluene and mixed xylenes were said to be in strong demand, with prices rising 10 and 15 cts/gal respectively. The last of the late-month contracts were also agreed, with September mixed xylenes done at an increase of 3 cts/gal and August styrene settled higher by 4 cts/lb.
