Aromatics prices mixed

Spot benzene on the US Gulf slipped 5 cts/gal, according to market watchers, losing half of last week’s gain. Toluene continued its slow rise, adding 10 cts/gal, while mixed xylenes continued their slow decline, off another 5 cts/gal. That brought the price level with the September contract settlement, which was sharply higher by 33 cts/gal. Spot styrene ticked lower by 2 cts/lb, players say. In Europe, the pattern was the same.
