Aromatics prices varied

In aromatics, benchmark spot benzene on the US Gulf added 5 cts/gal, sources say, while toluene and mixed xylenes doubled that gain with increases of 10 cts/gal. In contrast spot business was said to be mostly lower in Europe, with benzene tumbling $30/m.t. Toluene held steady, players say, but mixed xylenes retreated $20/m.t. after serveral level weeks. Styrene, in marked contrast, continued to confound with contrary moves. With ethylene and benzene down, styrene was higher in a wider trading range. Sellers raised offers by $30/m.t. but buyers would only pony up...
