DSM: Calling for the Phaseout of Styrene

Wilfrid Gambade, Business Director/Composite Resins Europe & Global for DSM outlines the the case for phasing out the use of styrene following the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ decision to classify styrene as a potential carcinogen. Gambade challenges the notion that styrene is sustainable and says it is time to adopt alternative materials. Gambade cites The National Toxicological Program’s (NTP) 12th Report on Carcinogens, which classifies styrene as "reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen," and The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), which classifies styrene as a potential human carcinogen.
