People & Business :: People/Executives Romanian Firms Cut Jobs, Output11:09 AM MST | November 18, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Three Romanian chemical companies have announced job cuts and output reductions due to the economic downturn. Oltchim (Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) says it will lay off 550 workers, 11% of its workforce, at the end of this month and cut production by 20%-40%. The company makes chlorine and caustic soda, polyvinyl chloride, oxo-alcohols, and phthalic anhydride. Azomures (Targu Mures, Romania) will cut about 240 jobs and reduce output 50%.
