Harvey-Jones was chairman of ICI, now part of Akzo Nobel, the worlds's largest coatings company, from 1982 to 1987. Chief executive of ICI, John McAdam said that Harvey-Jones was considered "a legend within ICI, and held in very high esteem by everyone in the company." In 1984, ICI became the first British company to record more than £1 billion in full-year pre-tax profit under his chairmanship. In 1988 he received the title of Industrialist...
