Cargill acquires Mosaic's salt production in Michigan

Cargill has completed the acquisition of Mosaic's salt production business at Hersey, MI, Cargill says. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. In November 2013, Mosaic announced it would stop producing potash at Hersey and sell the plant as a salt operation. Cargill will operate the facility as such, producing primarily water softener salt and salt products used in agriculture. The business currently employs about 80 people, and Cargill expects similar staffing levels once it takes over. Cargill’s salt business also has a production facility...
