People & Business :: People/Executives Ben van Beurden to join Shell's executive committee as downstream director1:02 PM MDT | October 10, 2012 | Ian Young Royal Dutch Shell has appointed Ben van Beurden, currently executive v.p./chemicals, as Shell's downstream director, effective 1 January 2013. Van Beurden will become a member of Shell's executive committee as part of his new role, succeeding Mark Williams, who will leave the company after 33 years' service. Van Beurden joined Shell in 1983 and has held various engineering, plant management and operations, and commercial roles in the Netherlands, Africa, Malaysia, UK, and US.
