BP's Cooper River PTA unit suffers fire

BP says that a fire has resulted in the shutdown of one of its one of the purified terephthalic acid (PTA) production units at its Cooper River site in Charleston, SC. The fire was extinguished quickly and no one was hurt during the incident, a BP spokesperson tells CW.   “BP is assessing extent of the damage to the compressor building and working to get the unit safely restarted,” according to the spokesperson. “The rest of the Cooper River plant continues to operate and produce PTA for customers.”   According to BP...
