Ashland CEO to Have Surgery, Return to Full Duty in 2-3 Months

Ashland says that its chairman and CEO James J. O'Brien will undergo surgery to repair a perforated colon resulting from diverticulitis, and is expected to return to full duties in two to three months. O'Brien will be available on a limited basis during the recovery period. Ashland's chairman duties will be assumed Barry Perry, lead independent director and former chairman and CEO of Engelhard, during O'Brien's recovery.
