Algerian oil company builds p-xylene plant

Sonatrach (Oran, Algeria), an Algerian-government owned hydrocarbon and oil company, announced today that it is nearing completion of its new para-xylene (p-xylene) crystallization plant at its refinery and petrochemical site at Skikda, Algeria. Start-up is scheduled for this month. The plant will use GTC Technology’s CrystPX and GT-IsomPX technology. CrystPX recovers p-xylene from reformate feedstock and GT-IsomPX, using a catalyst from Clariant, isomerizes C8 aromatics into additional p-xylene. The technology license also includes naphtha...
