Agrium shuts down nitrogen plant for repairs

Agrium this afternoon announced that its nitrogen plant at Redwater, AB was shut down on 15 October due to a failed waste heat boiler and will undergo repairs until 20 November. The reduced availability of ammonia from the plant will result in a lower operating rate for the Redwater phosphate plant, the company says. The company is expected to release its quarterly earnings on 6 November. Earlier this month, Agrium announced that its CEO Mike Wilson will retire on 31 December. Current COO Chuck Magro will take his position and join Agrium’s board...
