Swire acquires biodiesel producer Argent Energy

John Swire & Sons (London), a diversified corporation has acquired, via its subsidiary Green Investments, Argent Energy (Motherwell, UK), a biodiesel producer, Argent announced today. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but its value is about £80 million ($123 million), according to the Financial Times. Argent pioneered large-scale commercial biodiesel production in the United Kingdom when it started production at its plant near Motherwell, in 2005.
