Shiseido sells two cosmetics businesses to L'Oréal

Shiseido (Tokyo), a leading cosmetics player, has agreed to sell its Carita International (Paris) and Decléor Group (Paris) activities to fellow beauty giant L'Oréal (Clichy, France) for €227.5 million ($311.8 million), after the two companies began exclusive talks last year. L'Oréal already owns major brands that include Lancôme, Maybelline, Essie, Garnier, and Shu Uemuraas well as the beauty divisions of Giorgio Armani and Yves Saint Laurent.
