Ineos and Solvay received a statement of objections from the European Commission concerning the proposed €4.3-billion ($5.8 billion) merger of the companies' chlorvinyls activities. The statement of objections forms part of the normal proceedings that take place during an in-depth investigation by the commission in a merger case.
