Albemarle establishes Chinese flame-retardant JV

Albemarle has signed definitive agreements with Senze Meilu Company (Shanxi, China), a coal and bauxite mining company, to establish a joint venture, Albemarle Senze Chemicals, at Lvliang, Shanxi, to build and operate a 50,000-m.t. facility to manufacture fine precipitated alumina trihydrate (ATH) flame retardants marketed under the brand name Martinal, the companies say.
