Toray to acquire US carbon fiber firm Zoltek for $584 million

Toray Industries says that it has agreed to purchase all stakes in Zoltek (St. Louis), a company that manufactures and sells large tow carbon fibers, at $16.75/share. The total purchase price will be about $584 million. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2013 or in early 2014. Following the acquisition, Zoltek will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Toray and operate as a separate business unit.
