Reckitt Benckiser's offer to buy Schiff may spark bidding war

Reckitt Benckiser Group (Reckitt Benckiser; Slough, UK) announced on Friday that it has commenced a tender offer to acquire Schiff Nutrition International (Salt Lake City), a leading producer of branded vitamins, nutrition supplements and nutrition bars in the United States and elsewhere, for $42.00/share in cash, or approximately $1.4 billion. The offer exceeds that made last month by Bayer and may spark a bidding war, analysts say. Bayer offered to buy Schiff for $34/share, or $1.1 billion.   Reckitt Benckiser’s tender offer will expire at 9:00 a.m....
