Toyota Tsusho and Braskem to Market ‘Green’ Polyethylene in Asia

Trading company Toyota Tsusho (Nagoya, Japan) says it has signed a commercial contract with Braskem (São Paulo) to market Braskem’s “green” polyethylene (PE) in Asia. Braskem announced last year that it is building a plant to produce PE from sugarcane-derived ethanol by 2011 (CW, June 27, 2007, p. 9). Braskem’s plant will have a capacity of 200,000 m.t./year and is being constructed at the company’s Triunfo, Brazil petrochemical complex.
