Solvay and Air Liquide Form Global Fluorine Gas JV

Solvay and Air Liquide have entered into an agreement to create a global fluorine (F2) gas production joint venture. The business will make F2 onsite for manufacturers of flat panel display and silicon thin film photovoltaic products. F2 is used as a cleaning gas during the manufacture of the above electronic products. The new organization will be located in Belgium. The two companies have not yet disclosed whether the jv will be 50% owned by each partner. The jv remains subject to antitrust approval.
