Praj opens second-generation cellulosic ethanol demo plant in India, aims to develop biochemical products

Praj Industries (Pune, India) and partner Viraj Alcohols & Allied Industries (VAAIL; Shirala, India) held a groundbreaking ceremony today on a second-generation cellulosic ethanol demonstration plant. The facility will be South Asia’s first such unit and cost an estimated $25 million. The groundbreaking at Shirala, Maharashtra, India was performed by Pramod Chaudhari, executive chairman of Praj and VAAIL’s chairman Mansinghrao Naik.
