Leading French companies partner in R&D to speed development of biosourced jet fuel

Airbus, Air France, Safran (Paris), and Total have launched a program, Joining our Energies—Biofuel Initiative France, to further the R&D of sustainable biofuels for the French aviation industry, Total announced today. The air transport sector generates about 2% of global carbon dioxide emissions, and at present there is no biobased alternative to crude oil–based jet fuel, the partners say.
