House Speaker Forms Controversial Climate Panel

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., CA) has created a House committee that will oversee global warming, the Select Committee on Energy Independence, which industry sources say could set off a jurisdictional dispute with House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman John Dingell (D., MI). “I am asking the committees that have jurisdiction over energy, environment, and technology policy to report legislation on these issues by June,” Pelosi says. “We hope to have legislation on global warming and energy independence through the committees by July...
