G8 Agree to Cut CO2 Emissions 50% by 2050

Leaders of the G8 countries meeting in Toyako, Japan today have pledged to halve CO2 emissions by 2050. The agreement, which includes the U.S., would appear to be a step toward a global deal to curb climate change. The pledge contrasts with G8 leaders’ assertion of one year ago to only “seriously consider” halving global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
