EU on Course to Exceed Kyoto Emissions Target

The European Union (EU)’s original group of 15 countries continues to be on course to meet the 8% greenhouse gas emissions reduction agreed under the Kyoto Protocol and most likely will exceed it. These are the conclusions of the European Commission’s annual report on its progress to comply with the Kyoto Protocol, published earlier today.  By 2010 the EU succeeded in cutting emissions by 15.5% since 1990 while the economy grew by 41% over the same period.
